Chapter One

The Beginning

Self-ish Sundries was born during a season when I was barely holding myself together. I was coming out of a mental health crisis that left me exhausted in ways I didn't yet have language for.

The big self-care routines everyone talks about—the morning routines, the journaling, the hour-long resets—were completely out of reach. I didn't need more things to do. I needed something I could actually manage.

What I could do were the small things. I could make a cup of tea. I could light a candle. I could turn on a diffuser and let my shoulders drop just a little.

Those moments didn't cure anything. Therapy did a lot of the real work. But those small, sensory moments reminded me that I was still here. That I still deserved care, even when I wasn't operating at full capacity.

Especially then.

The Awakening

Chapter Two

Self-ish Sundries exists because I needed everyday support that fit into real life—not an aspirational version of it

I wanted care that met me where I was: overwhelmed, overstimulated, burned out, but still curious about joy. Still hopeful. Still worthy.

This brand is rooted in mood and feeling—grounding when life feels chaotic, energizing when exhaustion takes over, calm when anxiety is loud, uplifting when spirits are low, refreshing when everything feels heavy, and comfy when you just need softness.

I believe our senses are powerful. Scents, warmth, texture, and taste can gently shift how we feel, even on the hardest days.

The Why

Chapter Three

Self-ish Sundries exists because I needed everyday support that fit into real life—not an aspirational version of it.

I wanted care that met me where I was: overwhelmed, overstimulated, burned out, but still curious about joy. Still hopeful. Still worthy.

Who It's For

Chapter Four

Self-ish Sundries is for women like me—Black women who are doing their best in spaces that often demand more than they give back.

Women who are tired of surviving on fumes. Women who want balance without shame and care without perfection.

Calling it Self-ish is intentional. We've been taught that choosing ourselves is something to feel guilty about. I reject that.

Caring for your mental health isn't indulgent—it's responsible. It's how we stay connected to ourselves and each other. It's how we keep going.

The Invitation

Chapter Five

This isn't just a store. It's an open door.

A place where you don't have to pretend you have it all together. A place where small comforts are honored. A place where your story is welcome—messy, tender, unfinished, and real.

My hope is that when you're here, you feel seen. That you feel safe enough to slow down. And that maybe, in caring for yourself in small ways, you remember that you were never meant to do this alone.

Today

Chapter Six

Self-ish Sundries is still small. Still rooted in the belief that care doesn't have to be grand to be meaningful.

Every product, every scent, every choice is filtered through one question: would this have helped me when I needed it most?

If the answer is yes, it belongs here. If it would have reminded me that I mattered, that I deserved gentleness, that I wasn't alone—it's here for you too.
